Hey gang got LOTs of fun stuff to share with you today. First up is I am FINALLY done with draft 3 of the sequel to King of the Forgotten Darkness…and as promised, I am revealing the title of Book 2 of The Raven’s Tale today at the end of this, so stick around!
But first, Book Riot (https://www.instagram.com/p/DOn_bc2CHuI/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) is hosting a book giveaway, so go check that out on Instagram and make sure you enter your name for a free copy of King of the Forgotten Darkness! This is my first fantasy novel, a NA dark portal fantasy…its Brave New World meets Pan’s Labyrinth. Narnia, if it was written by Guillermo del Toro. And you enter to get a free copy by heading over to Book Riot right now!
Next up, in the weird and wonderful world of Jungian psychology, I have a couple of podcasts coming up. First is with philosopher James Cussen’s The Living Philosophy podcast. James and I talk a lot about dreams and their connection to fantasy. James is a philosopher coming to us from Limerick Ireland, a happening old town from the Mother Land. He’s got an incredibly sharp mind and our discussion meanders into all kinds of deep territory. You can check out his website at www.thelivingphilosophy.com, and I will post the podcast when it comes out right here on my website.
Then, I’ll be doing another podcast with Nick Iafrate at Vital Frontiers about men’s health and particularly men’s mental health. Men are in a lot of trouble these days, and Nick and I get into many of the challenging issues facing young men today, from lack of good mentoring to the need for powerful uplifting narratives and guiding imagery. Nick always has keen insights and is very cued into the beating heart of young men today. Check out his channel at https://www.youtube.com/@VitalFrontiers.
Finally, The Raven’s Tale, book 2 has an official title: The Treacherous Fire. Set twenty years after book 1, this story follows Gabriel, a Midworld investigator trying to hunt down the elusive Liam Trendari Panregon, guard of the last Dream Stone. When he succeeds, he gets much more than he bargains for, as Liam turns the tables on him and drags him into Erentyr where a final showdown pits the unstoppable Wizard King against a small band of Brendanian rebels in a final siege of epic proportions! Just like before, be prepared for an adrenaline rush of an adventure with deep psychological layers beneath it. One of the things I’ve gotten great feedback on from King of the Forgotten Darkness is how I handle the classic fight of light against dark–The Treacherous Fire will haunt you long after you finish it, just as book 1 will.
And let me just say this: thanks to all of you who’ve journeyed with me on this adventure. There is so much more to come–seriously you have no idea what I have planned not only for the Raven’s Tale, but for my academic writing. The spooky time of the year is finally upon us, and every time that happens, I get a surge of soulfire from the great beyond, muahahaha! This is my season, so hang on folks. See you soon!
